MT ST HELEN'S VOLCANO CAM
MT ST HELEN'S VOLCANO CAM
EDIT to add:
St. Helens timeline
- Oct. 4: The volcano emits a 40-minute-long steam and ash stream beginning at 9:42 a.m. Another tuft of steam comes from the crater at about 2:15 p.m.
- Oct. 3: A 25-minute tremor and an increase in volcanic gases strongly suggest magma is moving inside the volcano. The volcano emits a short steam burst and a harmonic tremor between 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
- Oct. 2: A small steam emission occurs and seismic activity changes from single-event earthquakes to continuous tremor, which indicates magma movement. The government issues a Level 3 volcano alert.
- Oct. 1: The mountain emits a large cloud of steam and ash that lasts for 27 minutes and rises to a height of 9,700 feet.
- Sept. 29: The mountain begins rumbling more intensely, prompting geologists to raise the eruption warning level.
- Sept. 25: Scientists issue a notice of volcanic unrest, closing the crater and areas around the volcano to hikers and climbers.
- Sept. 23: Scientists begin monitoring Mount St. Helens closely after recording numerous tiny earthquakes.
